4 Principles For Preparing Our Hearts For Revival

As we prepare for revival services next week, Sept 11-14, I want to remind you of some biblical principles found in the book of Ephesians 6.

Eph 6:5  Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Eph 6:6  Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
Eph 6:7  With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
Eph 6:8  Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Eph 6:9  And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
Eph 6:10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

  1. Prepare Your Heart to Submit to God- v.5-7,  We understand that the employer-employee relationship is really a reflection of our submission to Christ as we walk in obedience to His Word.  If we would experience revival in our hearts, we MUST stop living for self and start living out God’s will for our life.
  2. Prepare Your Heart to Singleness for God– v.5,  So many things distract us from keeping eyes upon Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  In a fast paced society, we must strive to keep Christ in focus and in all things give Him the preeminence.
  3. Prepare Your Heart in the Strength of God– v.10,  We must always remember that the Christian life can only be lived by the power of HIS might, for it is not by my might, nor by my power, but by THY Spirit, saith the Lord of Host.  Only God can revive my life! Only God can revive my marriage! Only God can revive my family! Only God can revive our church!
  4. Prepare You Heart to Stand Against the Devil– v.11-16,  Satan is not concerned about a carnal person, a carnal family, or a carnal church.  But he will take up arms against any Christian or church that seeks to honor God and win souls to Christ.  If you are truly serious about God bringing revival in your life, then be ready for the fiery darts of Satan to be thrown at you.  Satan tremble when he sees the weakest saint upon their knees.  Don’t allow Satan to use YOU to prevent revival in your home or in our church!

May we humble ourselves before God, turn from our sin, and seek His face this week.  And may God grant us a genuine revival!
